Matt Hubbard works out of Austin, TX as a member of jam band 7 Walkers and also as a solo performer, composer, studio musician, engineer and producer. Matt studied electronic music composition at Oberlin Conservatory and sings and plays keyboards, harmonica, trombone and other instruments. Matt has recorded and/or performed with Willie Nelson, Fastball, Billy Bob Thorton, Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel, Ray Price, Calvin Russell, Papa Mali, Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann and many others. Willie Nelson wrote in his memoir The Facts of Life and Other Dirty Jokes: "Matt Hubbard, remember that name. I believe you'll be hearing a lot more from him in the future." Mattâ€™s credits include co-producing grandpa-in-law Willieâ€™s "Rainbow Connection" (Island 2001), Grammy-nominated for Country Album of the Year. Matt played harmonica, keyboards, and bass as well as engineering the recording and mixing the album. He then recorded Willie and Ray Price's "Run That By Me One More Time" (Lost Highway 2003), also nominated for a Grammy. Matt has recorded, produced, or played on over forty albums. Other highlighs include his keyboard performance on the "Babe: Pig in the City" movie soundtrack album co-produced by Michael Orvitz (Pink Floyd's "The Wall"). Matt was commissioned to write music for mtv.com, has appeared on radio and television, and plays gigs with his all-star Austin-based band. Matt has now recently co-founded the band 7 Walkers with Bill Kreutzmann on drums, Papa Mali on guitar, and George Porter, Jr. of the Meters on bass. Their self-titled debut album will be released November 2nd, 2010 on Response Records with numerous supporting tour dates this fall and winter.
