Bluestring
Bluestring Bluestring is quite adamant about not being classified as solely one thing. This genre-blending quintet, which formed in Atlanta in 1998, is clearly a solid mix of bluegrass and hearty rock & roll. Clay Evans (guitar/vocals), Jason Jones (drums), Brad Thomas (saxophone), Nick Prince (percussion), and Chuck Thomas (bass) perform a heavy dose of their original-brand Southern stylings, and a fellow Georgian by the name of Butch Trucks caught wind of their musical agenda. The band's independently released debut, Overthinking, impressed the Allman Brothers drummer enough to sign Bluestring to his Flying Frog Records. In 2003, a self-titled sophomore effort marked the band's first for the label.
