Goodfellas Goodfellas began over 15 years ago as a collaboration between Ken Talley and Jeff Lopez. As Jeff is now touring with other artists such as Taylor Hicks and LIMBO to name 2, Goodfellas continues to feature one of the finest professional musicians in Birmingham, Ken, along with various guest artists including Goodfellas co-founder Jeff (when available). Ken Talley is a self taught musician who has been performing professionally since 1968 at the age of 13. Ken is a native of Birmingham, but has traveled the world over. In the 1970’s Ken acted as arranger and co-producer with Cleve Eaton’s band, The Garden of Eden. In the 80’s he became co-owner and performer with the R&B act Between the Two which performed globally and opened for such greats as Natalie Cole, The Spinners, Freddie Hubbard and Ramsey Lewis. Ken worked with Jim Aycock and Roger Phillps on the 1997 release of Only Love, followed by One of Us. He also wrote and recorded many songs and has collaborated with an array of musicians nationally and locally. He is in constant demand as a studio musician. Ken has written numerous songs and received the John Lennon International Songwriter’s award for his original song Father to Son from his Namaste CD. He has also received the Best of Show 2000 award at the Alabama Adie Awards. In addition to his musical skills, Ken studied film production at USC in Los Angeles and has appeared in a number of commercials as an actor, singer and songwriter. Ken has a reoccurring voice-over role on the award winning radio drama Bodylove. Ken also lends his musical talents to many non-profit fundraisers such as the annual Mind’s Eye event for the Mental Health Association of Alabama and much, much more. Birmingham also has the opportunity to see Ken Talley perform with the Unity Lights every Sunday morning at Unity of Birmingham on Highland Avenue.
