“We announce the launch of Occupymusicians.com, a website for musicians to show solidarity with the protesters, organizers, and supporters of the Occupy movements, and to show that there is a sizable force of musicians from across every genre of music who support this movement. A very small part of the list includes: Lou Reed, John Zorn, Amanda Palmer, DJ Rupture, Darcy James Argue, Frederic Rzewski, Talib Kweli, Pauline Oliveros, Tyondai Braxton, Evan Parker, Martin Bresnick, Ian MacKaye and Guy Picciotto (Fugazi), Laurie Anderson, Merrill Garbus (tUnE-yArDs), Tom Morello, Yuka Honda, Jello Biafra, and Saul Williams.
The Occupy Musicians project is a mirror of the very successful work going on at Occupy Writers (http://occupywriters.com/) and Occupy Film Makers (http://www.occupyfilmmakers.com/), with a similar statement. Inspired by, and with help from Ginny Suss and Vanessa Wruble at the website Okay Player, we have launched the website Occupymusicians.com as a public statement of support for the Occupy Wall Street movement, and all Occupy movements.
