Expectations run high when someone like Warren Haynes puts together a new band. Tap talent like Nigel Hall, Ron Johnson, Terrance Higgins and Ron Holloway and the bar certainly gets raised. Having toured all over the U.S. and Australia this spring, Warren’s new outfit has found their stride.
The soulful Man in Motion release provided much of the evening’s setlist. A few Mule moments surfaced like the ever-present Warren classic “Soulshine” that was tastefully wrapped around a colorful cover of Van Morrison’s “Tupleo Honey.” There will be many opportunities to catch this band along the summer festival season. They will be at Bonnaroo, High Sierra Music Festival, All Good and Outside Lands, and have a ton of tour dates in between.
