Slash :: 09.01.10 :: Odgen Theatre :: Denver, CO
The music of Guns N’ Roses is still cranking when Slash, the former lead guitar player, heads out on tour, including this stop at the Ogden Theatre. Slash is hitting the road with a new band ripping guitar solos thru old GNR hits, Velvet Revolver & Slash’s Snakepit songs, Zeppelin & Alter Bridge tunes and new material from his recent album.
In Denver Slash, lead singer Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge) and the rest of the band tried out a new song called “Do It For the Kids,” announcing to the crowd this was the first time played and to bear with them. The boys are modest as the song was loud, rocking and felt like it had been played for years. On tour with Slash are Kennedy, Bobby Schneck (rhythm guitar), Todd Kerns (bass guitar) and Brent Fitz (drums). The crowd was younger then expected but again this shows rock ‘n’ roll is here to stay. It really brought a smile to my face to see kids rocking out to music that moved me in my teens, and still continues to do so many years later. Myles Kennedy told the crowd at one point, “This is rock ‘n’ roll. No fighting – it’s all about love.”
If you ever listened to Guns N’ Roses growing up I would highly recommend checking this show out, and even if you’re not familiar with them but just dig ripping guitar heavy rock then be sure to check for tour dates near you.
