WAKE UP! OUT SEPTEMBER 21

okayplayer.com have released the first single from the upcoming collaborative album featuring John Legend and The Roots, Wake Up!, out September 21.

"Wake Up Everybody," the only track from the album to include guests, features both Common and Melanie Fiona. The album will feature soulful music from the 60s and 70s with an underlying theme of awareness, engagement and consciousness. It features eleven evocative songs, including Marvin Gaye's “Wholly Holy” and Donny Hathaway's “Little Ghetto Boy” mixed with more obscure selections like Baby Huey and the Babysitters’ “Hard Times,” and Mike James Kirkland's “Hang on in There.” In addition to the new track, check out a live, in-studio performance of "Hard Times" below.
