While many toy with the funk, The Pimps of Joytime make it purr and buck like good men & women should. But like clear ancestors Prince and War, they mix it up with style, too. Their latest video infuses their strut with Latin soul so right it'd make Joe Bataan do a cartwheel. And Joe's not a young man so you know it's good!
The Pimps have a boffo new album, Janxta Funk!, arriving later this year that folks should put on their radar (JamBase got an early listen and can assure y'all it's slammin'!). And the group is touring extensively this summer, playing two dates in Idaho this weekend and then heading to High Sierra Music Festival next week with stops along the way in Yosemite, San Luis Obispo and Santa Monica.
