Used to live on the corner of Hayes and Divis right in the heart of the Filthymoe (actually on the gentrified border)...and I currently wish I still did. These guys are cool. Lead singer has a distinctively nasal howl and they play some great Americana. Get their "Born on Flag Day" album, throw that tape in your pink walkman, get some fried catfish from Popeyes, and pitch a tent on Divis the night before this show.

I love(d) Deer Tick. I saw them over the summer and it was maybe one of my favorite shows of 2009. Last night was a different story. I felt like l was watching a train-wreck unfold on stage in slow motion. Nothing was off-limits...McCauley's dirty bare a$$, playing guitar with his junk, on-stage safety pin body piercings. I don't mind a full moon but the rest was more gross than entertaining. I understand McCauley wanted to give a big F-U to the corporate sponsors T-mobile and MOG and that's fine but the show just deteriorated into a pretty sad spectacle. Sad for me anyway, bc Deer Tick was one of my favorite new bands.
