LIVE BROTHER OUTING GETS SAUCIER

Younger Brother by Dave Vann
Younger Brother LIVE is scheduled to perform three intense performances next week, visiting New York, Baltimore and Philadelphia. After last year’s successful West Coast run, the July performances will give East Coast fans the opportunity to see the super-group leading into the band’s only confirmed festival appearance at Camp Bisco 8. Legendary Twisted Records artists Shpongle (Simon Posford) and Prometheus (Benji Vaughan) have been added to all three confirmed Younger Brother LIVE appearances. The addition of the world-renowned acts will keep the parties going well into the night.

Simon Posford and Benji Vaughan created the two-man partnership that would become Younger Brother after joining together in 2000 to create a studio track in support of Survival International, a charity that raises money for indigenous peoples worldwide. After producing their 2003 debut album (A Flock of Bleeps), the duo toured using computer equipment to mix the tracks live on stage. As the band moved away from a purely electronic sound for their second album (2007’s The Last Days of Gravity) live musicianship became a part of the equation, with Simon and Benji playing the instruments themselves while Ruu Campbell contributed vocals to the now-growing, three-piece.

To support the album, the trio began to tour with an assembled band of musicians. Success brought the band to the United States in 2008 where, with their friend and collaborator Marc Brownstein (The Disco Biscuits) cemented in the bassist’s position, they worked to assemble a live band that would go on to deliver four, sold-out U.S. performances.

The stateside live band lineup, which included Tom Hamilton (guitar, Brothers Past and American Babies) and Joe Russo (drums, The Duo) worked out so well that the super-group decided to record the third, as-yet-unnamed Younger Brother album, together, in London, late in 2008. The album is set for release in 2010 on Twisted Records.

Younger Brother LIVE is Simon Posford (Shpongle), Benji Vaughan (Prometheus), Marc Brownstein (The Disco Biscuits), Tom Hamilton (Brothers Past, American Babies), Joe Russo (The Duo), and Ruu Campbell.

The current list of confirmed Younger Brother LIVE dates is as follows:

July 9 – Terminal 5 – New York, NY (Late Show after Umphrey’s McGee/Matisyahu at Central Park Summer Stage)
July 10 – The Sonar – Baltimore, MD
July 11 – The Fillmore at the TLA – Philadelphia, PA
July 17 – Camp Bisco 8, Indian Lookout Country Club – Mariaville, NY
