Since forming in San Francisco, CA, in 2006, Montana Slim String Band has quickly gained the attention of its fans by driving home a delightful blend of traditional bluegrass and a youthful interpretation that comes across as honest, playful and intoxicating. The four-piece has found its knack with the current line up of Sean Duerr on guitar, Jesse Dunn on bass, Brent McClain on mandolin and Turi Hoiseth on violin. The band recorded their first EP with producer Tim Bluhm of The Mother Hips in January of 2007, and quickly found they had enough original material for a full length studio album. After a tour across the country, a featured spot at least year’s Las Tortugas festival and ever growing fanbase at their shows, Slim Pickins, the band’s first full length studio effort, is set to be released March 20.
Slim Pickins marks the band’s ever present growth and the coming months will find the band making stops at the Bobolink music festival, a featured headlining set at the Evergreen Lodge as part of a Strawberry Music Festival after party, an opening slot for The Devil Makes Three at the Mystic Theatre and a national tour come fall.
