Bump: New Album/Tour

Bump release second full-length release, Forward
Embark on national tour

Bump is proud to debut Forward, the band's first full-length effort in three years. Pollution, crime rates, and economic despair aren't the only effects of growing up in the outskirts of the Motor City. Within the gray solitude there is beauty, hope and a budding bouquet of creativity and invigorating new music. Bump leads the charge of exhilarating new music out of Detroit proving there is more than just garage rock and hip-hop.

Following three years of exhaustive touring, the band barricaded themselves in The Bunker in Royal Oak, MI, with producer Dan Currie ready to turn heads and change perceptions. The result is what many critics have already called the bands most mature and accessible album to date. Progressive tones, three part harmonies, and complicated layerings define the album's well-crafted songs and instantly memorable melodies.

On an unseasonably warm October day, Bump, Fulvew Productions and 25 behind-the-scenes volunteers set out to accomplish something most would call insane. Their vision was a one-shot music video, meaning no cuts, for Bump's new single "Out of Reach." What's so crazy about that? They were going to try to pull this off in the middle of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, crossing busy city streets and invading a public city park with all of the unsuspecting citizens going about business as usual. It was a video that would require the cooperation of a city that didn't even know what was about to happen. The result was a music video that will make you wonder, "how'd they do that?"

The "Out of Reach" video can be viewed here:

Reading these comments, I was prepared to be embarassed because these guys represent Detroit. I don't think that video was that bad though. I mean, did you not catch the Helsinki Go Beep article or the M83 article? Oh well, maybe I have Detroit bias. How could I know if I'm right or not if there isn't a WarmCarl story to go with it? Think for myself? Get out of here!

Anyone hear about this:

Senate Hearing on Ticketmaster/Live Nation Merger Scheduled for Webcast This Afternoon

The proposed merger of Ticketmaster and Live Nation still has some hurdles to cross. Both the House of Representative and the Senate have scheduled hearings to determine whether this merger might violate the Sherman Antitrust Act. Today at 2:30PM Eastern Time the Senate Judiciary Committee will take up this issue in a hearing entitled “The Ticketmaster/Live Nation Merger: What Does it Mean for Consumers and the Future of the Concert Business?” The witness list includes Irving Azoff, longtime artist manager and now CEO of Ticketmaster Entertainment, Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino, JAM Productions Chairman Jerry Mickelson and Seth Hurwitz, Co-Owner of I.M.P. Productions and 9:30 Club. The proceedings will be webcast via the official U.S. Senate site.

Yeah there's no way to sugarcoat it. They aren't very good. If you want to hear a great new band from Michigan, check out Ultraviolet Hippopotamus wherever and whenever you can. They won't disappoint.

I used to get down... But I saw them recently, and they were awful... Their jamming was alright, but they should avoid singing and pop music...
