M83
Following a 2008 UK tour with Kings of Leon, their own sold-out North American tour, a recent support slot on The Killers' US arena tour, and their television debut on Late Night With Conan O'Brien, M83 announces new U.S. dates, including Sasquatch Music Festival. In addition, M83 will perform with the LA Philharmonic in a sold-out concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on March 7. On March 9, the band will perform their current single, "Kim and Jessie," on Last Call With Carson Daly.

Describing the live show as "propulsive" and "hypnotic," The New York Times proclaims M83 mastermind Anthony Gonzalez as the "electro pop wizard of a fragile dream world." Rolling Stone calls Gonzalez their "favorite French musician ever." M83's fifth album, Saturdays = Youth, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top New Artist Heatseekers Chart, went to No. 1 on the CMJ Top 200 and received an NPR nomination for 2008 Album of the Year.

I expect a bunch of comments from dilusional people claiming that these guys do not really suck- and how closed minded people like me need to open our minds and subject ourselves to more crap like this so that we can be real music fans like them

jer-Z - I am sure you and I would disagree like that on many of my favorite bands, because I tend to like a lot of "hipster" stuff... However, I completely agree about these guys. They have gotten a ton of hype. Especially from those awful pitchfork guys. Although probably not the worst band ever or anything, they suck hard and they suck really good at sucking hard because they are terrible.

for those of you bitching that they suck, give their album saturdays=youth a listen. I agree that its not for everyone, but if you into synth pop, its a really good listen.

and fnghhhh - m83 just did a pretty extensive tour supporting the killers on the east coast and midwest - thats why this tour is so small.

"Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts" is one of the best albums of the decade. For those who can get over their cleverness and give it a spin, it's worth it. New album, eh...it's decent.

"2. WTF kind of tour is that? 6 dates from march to may?"

i was waiting for somebody to say something stupid like that. people need to open their eyes, both in terms of music and in terms of actually READING something before complaining about it. this band just played a BUNCH of shows all over the place. i'm not even really a fan but that youtube clip looks interesting in a 'wall of sound' sorta way.

anyway please: read the very first paragraph...stupid!

jer-Z it's weird that your profile seems to portray you as a pretty compassionate guy yet you just have to say this band "sucks." i can do the same thing, yeah? for the most part, i think the bible sucks (especially as a historical document), but i'm not whining about that, because the bible has all the right in the world to suck if it wants to. :p

Synth pop = the least amount of musicianship required to make music

^^ok, you made a claim. could you at least justify it so you don't sound like another petty fool? also, could you define 'musicianship' please? i mean, who cares how much 'musicianship' goes into a musical work, as long as the artist and his/her audience enjoys it, right?

Yes Brian - you are correct who gives a shite what the musicianship is as long as the audience enjoys. However, to M83s defense, Gonzalez is a pretty badass producer -

And jballmusic - how many albums have you put out? Questioning someone ability as a musician when never having done shit yourself makes you look like a dbag.

Okay, the guy plays a total a four different chords at the beginning and through the song, with a straight 8th note rhythm. There is never a bridge or anything to contrast it. The girl playing synth plays THE SAME THING everytime she comes in. Also, you think that girl spent nights in the 'shed focusing her sound and technique? Doesn't look like it to me, looks like she pressed a button, said to herself "This sounds cool", and went with it. There is nothing that impresses me from this group. Not my cup of tea. Take it or leave it.

Mayo aside, that Spin Doctors Sesame Street video may be greatest thing ever posted on this website.
