Opeth Spring Tour

After a stellar 2008 that found Opeth's most recent release, Watershed, atop many critical "best of" lists, the Swedish metal gods will return to the U.S. for a third tour run, which will kick off May 1 in New Jersey and will be sponsored by Decibel Magazine. Enslaved have been confirmed as support for these dates.

Check out JamBase's rave review of Opeth's most recent concert in San Francisco. And stay tuned for our forthcoming interview with Opeth's main man, Mikael Åkerfeldt.

Yea, this is stretching it too far. Doesn't belong here. Who Cares?

I care. Yes, it's death metal, but it's prog death metal with melodic elements, fantastic guitar playing, and clear influence from the likes of Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree.

The more info the better. I like to make up my own mind without some extremely rigid music genre "fans" trying to determine what is good or not for everybody. Thanks Jambase.

Conjugal Burning

MMJambase, Machine Head cant touch the melodic rollercoaster Opeth can put you on, unless MAHINE Head is a metal band i havnt heard of. Check these dudes out, their last album was on the softer side at times, but they still shred

I'm sorry but I have to jump on this one as well. Opeth is just downright sick! The way I describe this band as just straight metal. It's all forms, death, cockrock, acoustic, piano, you name it and they will cram all of that in to a song. They average what, 11 minutes a song? No one out there in the metal scene is doing that with the consistency and quality of the music Opeth makes. Musicians know Opeth. Go to one of there shows, its a really eclectic group of people. Thank you for the post Jambase, now I have plans to do something May 5th!

I'll trade my Hampton tickets for Opeth at the Fox Theatre.
