Interesting - some heavy hitters in there as far as I'm concerned. I'm usually a little scared of compilations, but I might have to give this one a shot. Either way it's a worthy cause.

Looks interesting. Is Shuggie Otis one of the best names of all time or what?

Looks like a really solid cast of characters - not good enough to cure AIDS, but we'll take it. Conor Oberst and Gillian Welch could be an interesting combination. Might have to check that one out.

Wow. This looks like an amazing comp. Definitely loaded with some of my favorites. I agree that the Gillian Welch Connor Oberst collaboration could be very interesting. I used to really not like Connor, but I am coming around. Looking forward to the Monsters of Folk album w/ him, Jim James, and M. Ward. The title track by the Kronos Quartet should be awesome as well. They are amazing.

Jimmy Row: Justin Vernon is Bon Iver the same way Chan Marshall is Cat Power or the dude we all now know as Alice Cooper was Alice Cooper (He was not originally Alice Cooper but everybody called him Alice and he just went with it. Don't know his real name). The whole musical endeavor is Bon Iver, which exists separately from the person, if that makes any sense.

Sighhhh. This is NOT a good cause, please consider what I have to say: First off if you look at their homepage, they are not a true charity. They are a charity distributor. The money would be MUCH better going directly to the charities over in Africa doing the work. Second, and most importantly, I BEG you to do research on AID charities in Africa. If it says AIDs relief, it is an incredibly dangerous things. They buy drugs, such as protease inhibitors, which DO NOT CURE AIDs. They make you live 5-10 years longer, but you still spread the disease just as easy. Many complain the side effects from these type of drugs are worse than living. The pharmaceutical companies make a ridiculous amount of money of these drugs because they are EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE and you need take them for THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! Perhaps it isn't true, but they have been vastly accused of suppressing AIDs cure/vaccine research because they are much less expensive than drugs you must take for the rest of your life. These charities just pay out all the money to the pharmaceuticals so some big head can make all of this money and at the very least he is crossing his finger that a cure never gets discovered. Without the proper education, AIDs victims in Africa on these drugs live longer to spread the disease more. It is EXTREMELY dangerous and is not helping the people of Africa. Please only donate to charities that educate or fund vaccine/cure research, not the administration of these evil drugs. I hope you take this into consideration, it is something I am very passionate about and very concerned for the people of Africa for.

That being said.. I still think money going to that charity, be it flawed, is still better than 90% going into the pocket of some fat cat record producer. So if it is for the music, I think it is cool.
