Go See Live Music!
no way this band should get two review in a short period of time when other people would like to see bands covered that haven't been covered in a while. decent band though.
Congrats on the 100th show Josh, that's dedication!
I don't mind 2 Crowes reviews in a short period of time. Look at who you've got writing them! cmon! Dennis always does an excellent job, and it's entertaining to hear him review a band he obviously loves. I've always loved the Crowes and still do, but I hope they give Luther some time off for next year for his other band!
What's with the picture of the two girls looking like they are falling asleep?
100 Black Crow shows? Serious? Were you a roadie for them? THat's the only reason I could see for making more than 2.
umm... you guys are tools.
Snappy, Im speechless. Thank you kindly.
great photos too.
wish i coulda been there. thanx for taking it easy on the old man, too... the ultimate respect, cut both ways
Brilliant writing as always Dennis... you captue the true spirit of the Crowes. I agree with you that when this band is on they are as good as any rock and roll in a long time.
***i dont even mind the crowes......just sick of of chris tryin to look like some metro-sexual jesus
PooDolla, the two girls sit back and relax while The Crowes jam out and do their thing. Then they'd get up and sing like birds when the time came. I just wanted to capture that moment when they were closing their eyes and enjoying the moment. That's it.
That's exactly what I was looking for. Black Crowes are in my top three favorite all time bands, and I missed this run due to the quick sell out & a new baby girl. These photos are exactly what I was looking for. The ladies resting. The partitions. The head on. The Title Song. The Thorn In My Pride. The Nonfiction. Those setlists are exactly what I wanted to see. While I missed it live this time around, your words and photos gave me what I wanted. Cheers Jambase. Time to seek out the audio.
well i said nothing about the writing i was just writing based on the premis that i feel like i'd rather have a show review for someone we haven't had one for in a few months or years... jambase shouldn't be top heavy we should support and represent bands that are sick and coming up then keep talking bout the black crowes, or MMJ or even umph and all those bands when we could do a real good young band a real service by geting them checked out. Jambase has that power to open our eyes to a bunch of bands on the scene, Dennis could take his predigious skills and apply them else where too you know.
This run looked to be beefy when the tour was announced, but it sounds like they really put it all out there. Regrets to have missed it. One of the great live bands of our time. C'mon back to All Good, boys. Bring Cody and Chris, too. And why not MMW and Robert Randolph so we can put Luther to work all weekend...
These guys may be the band of the year but the band that brought on the most HEAT this year was WIDESPREAD PANIC! Jim James basically imitates John Bell's vocals and melodic songwriting styles.Yes MJM is good but take a look at history and influence and it'll take you right back to the big bang--> and that is-->John Bell & WIDESPREAD PANIC who have, do, and always will BRING ON THE HEAVY HEAT (with the mind melting songs and southern jams)
Ricky....are you ser??? I am pretty sure JJ has not IMITATED WSP...besides JB's voice thing is a bunch of made up shit to sound cool...if it wasnt for his made up growl theyd be even boring...not including why JBs guitar is always so low in the mix, todd nance playing the SAME drum beat for EVERY song, same drum fills and Ortiz being a gimp arm. just dangling there being intrusive and not adding anything. least JOJO started using a real piano. Herring and Schools are the only reason to go see WSP anyhow.
I was there as Santa Clause on Sat. night. Good times rock and roll christmas.
would've loved to be there for that encore on the 20th......
Man great article. Great Shows. Great Band. Great Pictures.
I was there on Friday night and it was one of the finest rock-n-roll shows that I have ever seen. Long live the Crowes!!!!!
Caught the Crows at the Vibes, imho they suck. 100 shows thats laughable, I've seen them twice (Further fest and Vibes) and I just don't get it. Actually I saw many people walk out during their set at the vibes, oh yeah and I've seen CR ruin a few Phils shows. I do like his solo stuff though.
Ching....i am never ser here
except there^and here
Yeah AdkinsJ I second every bit of that comment. The first time I saw the crowes was at that 2006 ALL GOOD and I've been in love with them ever since. yeah and bring back medeski and randolph (also allgood 06' alums) so we can get some of The Word. Great article by the way!!!!
Congrat's Black Crowes to an awesome tour! Way to hang in there when things got a little tough this fall. I'm REALLY looking forward now to seeing Luther with the NMA's...Cody, and Chris...when you guys come back to the Rockies next month! The west is the best...as Widespread Panic will be prooving on New Year's!!
The Vibes show this summer was awesome. If you don't get them, I feel sorry for you. Your missing out on some of the most enjoyable live music ever.
Warpaint is one of the best albums of 2008...hands down
