U2: No Line On The HorizonProduced by Eno and Lanois

U2 To Release New Album: No Line On The Horizon On March 3, 2009

U2
No Line On The Horizon, the new studio album from U2, will be released in North America on Tuesday, March 3, 2009.

Written and recorded in various locations, No Line On The Horizon is the group's 12th studio album and is their first release since the nine million selling album How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, released in late 2004.

Sessions for No Line On The Horizon began last year in Fez, Morocco, and continued in the band's own studio in Dublin, before moving to New York's Platinum Sound Recording Studios. It was completed at Olympic Studios in London.

The album calls on the production talents of long-time collaborators Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, with additional production by Steve Lillywhite.

Tis almost that time...

I know you all think it's such an accomplishment to throw out your unsupported opinions like you know what's up, but it would be really nice for you to give some substantive remark. Why don't you like U2? Let me be able to decide whether I think your reason is crap or not rather than let me assume from your pointless comment that you wrote your comment to pass the time while you to a shit. Thanks, much love.

Well said Cola21.

Jambase should be renamed to "haters-base". Wow, you would think that "music fans" would appreciate the contributions of a band like U2. If you don't like them, just don't comment. It would be nice to turn the world into a positive environment for once.

Catch yerself on and pull your head out of your arses and listen to 'Boy', 'October' and 'The Unforgettable Fire' before you talk sheight. Overproduced? Like Fhuck yez bollix...

Gutterlush that was really well played. As usual on Jambase, of late the negative nancies want to hijack a thread about talented musicians to get the attention mommy never gave them. It is a shame.

FYI to you nancies, U2 has put out some GREAT stuff you have never heard because you can't see past the big hits or Bono's shades. Try Refugee off War, Shadows and Tall Trees off Boy, Kite off All That You Leave Can't Behind, Red Hill Town off Joshua Tree or So Cruel off Achtung Baby. It's all amazingly good and Bono has done more for the poor then all these trash talking scrubs ever will. Like the other poster said, try spreading so positivity for a change, it's good for everyone. The album sounds interesting. Lanois and Eno are very experimental and they should push the envelope again. PEACE YA'LL

i can give u2 props, joshua tree was pretty groundbreaking but u2 has never been my thing. i think the edge is overrated, its easy to make cool sounds with pedals. i mean he's good at what he does but just not my thing. the band is all about bono, and i never like when the main part of a band is the vocals. probably why i don't like coldplay either.

I can see Michael Kang wanting to see U2. Listen to the first song on the One Step Closer album - Kang wrote it and it screams U2.

Sometimes, even when you don't care for the music you have to credit where it's due.

A bunch of hating custies. U2 is the band that made me interested in jambands. U2 is everything a band should be. They are diverse, creative, and extremely talented. I can't believe that someone said that Bono can't sing or that the Edge can't play guitar. Are you deaf or dumb? Haters - get a life and stay off of threads that people like to exchange intelligent thoughts.

I'll be interested to see how this turns out. Eno and Lanois produced Achtung Baby, which is my favorite by U2 and one of the best albums of the 90's. I'm not going to get my hopes too high, though, because Achtung Baby was the last U2 album I really liked. You never know, though. I still can't understand the anger some people feel about Jambase posting news about the new U2 album's release date and producers. What a bunch of dicks - posting music news on the Newswire.

i think the reason people on this forum are upset about U2 is because they more or less stick out like a sore thumb. i understand that there are many non-jam bands that members can track, but jam-sounding music is the primary focus. i think people would react just the same if nickleback were the featured article...its just unexpected and not well received by some.

Eno & U2... Sounds interesting.

Ive been at least 1000 shows, inclduing almost every "jamband" covered on this site multiple times. U2 is easily in my top ten shows of all time.

If you dont have the Rattle & Hum DVD pick it up. Still Havent Found.. with a Memphis Gospel Choir, When Love Comes to Town w/ B.B. King. ect. ect.

U2 is jambase for the same reason that Widespread Panic and J.Bell are on jambase --->BEACAUSE THEY BRING ON THE HEAT! Bottom line.

Widespread have covered U2 songs here and there but brought that southern edge that U2 can't seem to get. It's great to hear it when J.Bell goes 'AAArrrr' or whatever with that slight bono influence in his voice and neck. Widespread are headed for something that bono will never do: blow minds with centre of the sun, turn up the heat, drum focused sweet jams. Watch out for these 2 in action together as a supergroup one summer.

This record features more egos than the waffle isle at Safeway. I hope they remembered to press "record" while Bono, Eno and Lanois were stroking themselves to compare genital size.

But, for some constructive criticism, all U2 songs sound alike, they use MONSTER producers for EVERY record (TWO for this one, who actually make the boring-ass songs sound somewhat interesting), and the display of egotism is stomach-churning. Not to mention the "channeling the pain of the world through our music" thing is really getting old.

Personally I'm not into U2, but I have to admit they must be doing something right. It's great that they still make music that gets people off live, but if Bono wanted to break it off, quit U2 and do humanitarian work instead, there would be no complaints from me. I just can't get into their pop tunes. Eno should make the album sound great.

Um...U2 is hardly a jam band, but they do rock. Nice to see a band fill the expectations of super group without all the nasty trappings (you know, arrests, divorces, death and destruction)...The fact that their music is totally unique, they have a high percentage of well written SONGS (unlike some jambands who have a lot of riffs that they wank to death and then transition to another riff)- complete with interesting, driving and soulful guitar arrangements, great rhythm, great vocals, are leading the rest of us in contributing to the global community, etc....and they still have GA tix for their shows...makes me love U2 (oh, yeah, and I'm old and have seen the Dead a bizillion times). Bring on the next tour!

UPDATE: I would like to thank Jambase for acknowleging U2 this weekend. I have revisited my U2 library of music over the past 48hrs, I have realized that it is a complete and total loss to not listen to this amazing band. You haters would all shoot a load on your mud-caked sandles if your favorite band covered 'Exit'-'Bad'-'Tomorrow'-'The Ground Beneath Her Feet' etc. etc.

And, all you experts that have such a vast knowledge of the band that you feel astute enough to belittle The Edge for his name seem, through your silence, to believe without question that 'Bono' is a/his real name. Sheep. Baaaaa. Wankers.

U2 isn't known for musical improvisation on stage. But, sometimes a "less is more" approach to guitar playing and song writing can deliver more than a 20 minute jam on two chords.

did any one see that zoo tv tour show special that they broadcast years ago, maybe from Australia? while illustrating how elaborate the stage was (from underneath) they came across some other dude on guitar who was playing along to fill in the sound. it was pretty funny.

they've had some pretty incredible albums in the past but they're not deserving of their size and status, imo.

and as much as you might no like bono's style he does actually use his celebrity to improve the world that we all live in, which is more than i can say about many of the self righteous haters that thrive here.

i for one am very excited to hear the new album, lanois and eno are pretty spectacular.
