Hold Steady & War On Drugs Tour

The War On Drugs to tour with The Hold Steady

The War On Drugs
The Hold Steady's Craig Finn has not been quiet about his love for The War On Drugs, saying "I still haven't seen this band live... but they made an amazing record that I was obsessed with for most of the year." Well, Craig and his bandmates will finally get their chance; twelve of them actually, as The War On Drugs will be opening a string of dates starting March 31 for The Hold Steady.

This will mark the most extensive U.S. tour The War On Drugs have taken since the release of their critically acclaimed debut Wagonwheel Blues as the band spent the bulk of 2008 across the pond playing what Uncut's Allan Jones described as "a frantic 30 minutes or so, packed from floor to ceiling with moments of startling rapture and abandoned mayhem, is as good as anything I've seen all year." As such, The War On Drugs will return to Europe in February.

Wow, love the band and LOVE the name. A nice bit of Dylan in the delivery and great, instrumental sections.. i think sometimes those get referred to as "jams." Anyway, sick band, and Hold Steady are amazing, Finn is one of the best storytellers around... what a great tour!

STS9 is not music compared to the Hold Steady. Mediocre? I agree with SOAM84 on the trust fund hippie comment

Ha. Trust fund? Please! I work for my money.

I don't know, I like all kinds of music but with songs like that "Hood Rat Friend" tune drive me crazy. Prove me wrong though, I'd be glad to be converted... What's their best song and I'll look it up.

yo AintNoFreedom, check out the album "Boys and Girls in America" came out last year and blew the doors off! You really can't go wrong with any song on there. As a jamband fan I'm sure you will get a kick out of "chill out tent" we can all relate to that story in some way or another....The new album Stay Positive is incredible too...but you gotta catch'em live to get the (reggie and the) full effect

SOAM84-

When I first bought it I thought Boys and Girls was my favorite album but after going back to Separation Sunday I've changed my mind again. Maybe I just burnt out on it after listening to it a million times, but I like Sunday more. Just bought the new one though and think it is probably the worst out of all of them but it will probably grow on me as they all have

hmmm THS is my favorite new band so i am feeling obliged to defend them against such foolish statements as above , but then i think.... "do i really want everyone to know how good they are? it will just make it harder to get tickets and harder to get a good spot on the floor."

maybe its better to leave some people in the dark. of course if its not your cup o' tea .. well thats fine too. by the way i like all 4 albums and listen to them all in heavy rotation.

so , do you want me to tell it like its "boy meets girl and the rest is history" yeah or do want it like a murder mystery?

i'm gonna tell it like a comeback story

all i know is that the hold steady is far and away becoming one of my favorite bands. "Stay Positive" is probably my #1 album next to tv on the radio's "dear science." I just saw THS with the drive by truckers in louisville and it was probably the best thing i've ever witnessed. Love to hear both will be playing in st. louis
