Centro-matic Tour

WILL JOHNSON'S TWIN FORCES FOR GOOD
IN SUBSTANTIVE ROCK SCHEDULE SHOWS

Centro-matic
Following up a successful East Coast tour, Centro-matic are taking to the road again, this time with South San Gabriel (as a well as friends Sleepcar (which includes Jim Ward of Sparta), The Broken West, Bobby Bare Jr. and Langhorne Slim).

Centro-matic released the split double album, Dual Hawks, with South San Gabriel back in June. Will Johnson is the primary behind both bands. The album has been met with praise in The Boston Globe, PopMatters, Pitchfork, Spin and Aquarium Drunkard, to name a few. Look forward to an upcoming feature on these hyper-talented bands here on JamBase before too long. The Drive-By Truckers' Patterson Hood says Centro-matic's music "comes on like a sound from a distant dream, something new, yet unmistakably familiar…They're the best live band in America and know how to make great records…One of life's pleasures that I look forward to passing on to my kids." Take that to the bank!

Such a great band. Too bad they're not playing the east coast.

Dual Hawks is a gem of an album and should be in many folks top albums of '08 when the year ends. Will Johnson for president.

With any luck, KC, I'll be talking with Will Johnson this month for a JamBase feature. In the meantime, here's a piece I did elsewhere around the last Centro-matic album:
