New Mastersounds U.S. Dates

The New Mastersounds
The New Mastersounds return to U.S. soil to seduce the masses with their infectious grooves and unmistakable funk. Feeding off the energy of their last U.S. appearance during New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival the entitled "Kings of Late Night" return to shake up dance floors all over the States.

After a first stop is in NYC for a Rocks Off Concert Cruise, NMS brings their high energy funk out West! While in California, The New Mastersounds will be making a rare club appearance at Hop Monk Tavern in Sebastopol on July 16. It will prove to be an epic not to be missed event! NMS will headline 10,000 Lakes Festival in Minnesota on July 23 before heading to Japan to headline the Field of Heaven Stage for their first ever appearance at the Fuji Rock Festival. This popular summer festival also hosts such acts as Spoon, Bootsy Collins, Gogol Bordello, Bloc Party, Grand Master Flash, and many more top performers. NMS will then return for one more date in the U.S. at the Forecastle Festival in Louisville, KY on July 27 to finish the July tour, stay tuned for August.

As The New Mastersounds take the stage during their summer tour, they promise to give a healthy glimpse of new material to be seen on their latest album due for U.S. release in late 2008. Their ever-evolving sound brings about the true soulfulness of funk and when on stage, NMS manipulates and experiments with these sounds giving their audience a live music experience to which few can be compared.

The band comments, "The U.S. audience has a kind of intelligence and attention to detail, so you can do things with the music and you know it's not passing people by and going over their heads. You can feel it emotionally. The essence of what our live show is about, is us having fun and then being able to generate that fun for other people... creating a kind of energy transference."

The New Mastersounds are not to be missed! Their late nite JazzFest show with Karl Denson (and plenty of guests) was killin'. I planned on being in SF in July and managed to change my travel dates so I could catch both shows at The Independent. Can't wait to hear the new stuff. Woo-hoo!!!

I first saw these guys at Suwanee River music park at a small festival and I had never heard of them then but loved their show. They really blew it up at Langerado this year and I'm pretty sure they actually played an extra time slot to fill in for a band that could not make it last minute. I wish they were coming to FL for something other than Jam Cruise, but if they're gonna be somewhere near you I'd check them out for sure.

tampafaz- they did play a second set at Langerado 2008, I saw both sets and loved every minute!

I was kind of board with the recent Greyboy lineup, despite my love for the great work they've done and the new album, but New Mastersounds hit hard and often. I hope they'll play a FLA gig or two around the cruise.

These guys were THE act to catch during Jazz Fest. On the Friday night when Umphreys were making me doubt how they managed to climb so high in the Jam World, the Mastersounds were right upstairs just killing it. The locals knew the score and this band reassured my faith that good music can still thrive.

These guys are awesome. They will also be playing two shows at the Bear Creek festival at the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, November 15&16.

@sweetjames: they played last year at the wicker park street fest here in chicago, i was there and indeed it was super funky... and they were supposed to play the fest again this year (with a late show!!) but canceled those shows when they got invited to play the fuji rock fest in japan =( take a look at their full schedule (complete with cool tour map!) here, and you'll see they're gonna be traveling a lot this year ....

Is the Bear Creek festival happening again? I know last year they had some struggles with changing venues and low attendance. Day passes were supposed to be $40 but after driving a few hours I come to find out they raised the price to $60 because of low attendance, pissed me off a little bit but at least I got to see these guys, Skerik and Umphrey's at easily one of the coolest spots to see outdoor live music.

Grateful Dread

Another thumbs up for these guys. Saw them on Jam Cruise 5 and was quite pleased, having no idea what they were like going into the cruise. By the way, I like that little ego stroke at the end of the press release. They must be really targeting the right audiences if that's their opinion of music fans in the U.S. Cheers to that!

Wow, these guys are about as serious as it gets after looking at that tour map. Mad props, I don't think I've ever seen a full world tour of this magnitude before. They're just popular EVERYWHERE!

briank67: I saw them when they opened for the Headhunters @Double Door, I think that was last year, & I was really impressed. I'm glad they're getting the opportunity to play at Fuji Rock, just sucks that the chitown gigs are the ones that got canceled!

I'm pretty sure I remember them saying they were gonna be doing some shows around the southeast at Langerado when they filled in for Vampire Weekend. I've really been digging these guys and have been checking their dates all the time so needless to say this announcement leaves a little to be desired...hopefully this tour will convince them to expand their range next time!

bah! im not gonna whine about them not coming through my area, this is more of a self kick to the nuts for not seeing em at the 8x10 in baltimore last time around, but that is still like a 2 to 3 hour drive for me. these guys are awesome, really funky, really fun music to listen and dance to in my own house, im sure it is fantastic in a live setting
