YMSB Summer Tour

Announces Summer 2008 Tour
Including Co-Headline Tour w/ KELLER WILLIAMS and RED ROCKS

This summer promises to be an eventful summer for Yonder Mountain String Band, with the release of a brand new live album, Mountain Tracks: Volume 5, summer festivals, a co-headline tour with Keller Williams, the band's return to Red Rocks, and plans to head back into the studio with producer Tom Rothrock.

As we reported last week, Yonder will co-headline a summer tour with longtime friend and musical colleague Keller Williams. Williams and YMSB hit the road together in summers past, on such tours as Acoustic Planet and Big Summer Classic. For the 2008 season, look for stops throughout the South, as well as in the Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain regions.

After the run of shows with Keller, Yonder will return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre this summer August 2. Last year was the first time the Nederland, CO-based band headlined Red Rocks (and sold it out), located in Morrison, CO just forty miles from where Yonder formed nearly ten years ago. The show went down as one of the most exciting shows in the band's history and the band can't wait to get back to their hometown crowd at the beautiful, natural outdoor amphitheatre. Keller Williams will kick off the show this year. The singer-songwriter, and guitar virtuoso will bring his equally quirky, upbeat, and semi-surreal songs (which he frequently weaves into extended, half-improvised medleys) and his warm, friendly tenor singing voice.

As a special treat for local Boulder fans and for those traveling into Colorado for the Red Rocks show, Yonder will perform at the Boulder Theater the night before Red Rocks on August 1. (Tickets to the Boulder Theater will only be available as a two-day ticket package with Red Rocks.)

In between their busy touring schedule, Yonder will head back into the studio with producer Tom Rothrock (Elliot Smith, Beck), who also produced the last Yonder studio record, Yonder Mountain String Band. The continuation of the studio collaboration with Rothrock at the helm promises to be an amazing creative process for the band.

Nice to see a few more bands actually touring during the summer and getting away from these rediculously expensive festivals.

Ugh, not a single California date. Oh well, I'll cath them at NWSS, but wish they'd come a bit closer. I'd love to see them play at the Greek Theater in Berkeley.

umm... Keller Williams... Jack Johnson... I don't see the comparison (or wth Buffet for that matter). Keller has a great talent, regardless of what anyone has to say about his music. Subjectively, if you don't like what he's doin, that's fine. Objectively, he really can play! Check him out and bring your girlfriend and yo mama. Even if he isn't John Hartford...

With Fishman the entire tour or just selected dates? Can anyone comment on what he brings to their sound. As much as I love Fish, I'm not sure what he brings to their sound.

As much as I love Fishman, I love Yonder as just the 4, (Or with Darell), I hope at the Red Rock and Boulder shows it is just Yonder as a 4.

It's so amusing to me how littered with idiots this website can be at times. You've heard it before, dipshits...IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE BAND, DON'T BOTHER READING THE STORY. Also, please don't waste the time of those of us who do care enough about a band to read the story, posting your trashtalk. All of you who get some kind of rise out of coming up with some new lingo to use in debasing something you don't understand may sound different, but still look the same; like a bunch of narrow-minded pinheads just full of jealousy. Are your lives so pathetic that you are reduced to desperately trying to strip credit from something that is already established as credible? God it must suck to be as bitter and trifling as some of you.

*To those here to spread the love, thanks.

mg9 -- i saw yonder w/ fishman in february -- i was always saying to myself 'these guys are awesome & would be even better w/ some percussion' -- although the february show was a smoker, i personally like them better as a foursome -- it just seems like the setlists now have some uneeded 'schtick' or at least it did on that particular night i saw them.

I totally agree with you rhythmic_randomness. I can't stand when people trash music just because they aren't into it. It's like they just want totry and take away the fun fro other people just because they can't enjoy themselves. Maybe it has to do with a capacity for fun. As a music lover one must learn that their subjective feelings towards music are not objective. Just because someone doesn't like an artist, it doesn't give them a right to trash on them and their scene. People are just so ignorant!!! It's the golden rule baby: do onto others. For example, I guarantee umphreysmcshit would be ultra-pissed if we starte trashing on Umphrey's McGee.

the pittsburgh show at hartwood acres is going to be awesome. Its free, its just an outdoor amphitheater where you drive your car right up onto the field and can bring lawn chairs, coolers, whatever right down to the stage. Super relaxed atmosphere, only a few cops on the side. Saw umphrey's do a free show there, one of the funnest nights of my life. anyone who can should go to that show

how can people complain about them not playing in their area when they just came thru that place. last time i checked they were playing at least 4 shows on the current tour in California, for example.

And who writes this stuff? "look for stops throughout the South" that would be the cabin fever tour in February.

I waited 3 years for them to come back to Memphis and still made plenty of shows.

Jack Johnson does suck tho

I assume the nads in question are mine and I am proud to report that they are firmly in tact, between my legs, where they've always been. I, too, firmly believe that everyone is entitled to their opinion. I also couldn't survive without humor. I think, though, that it's a bit petty to put yourself into a discussion that is not pertinent to anything you are personally interested in, just to invoke some kind of offensiveness in someone else. It only paints those who spread that kind of vibe out to be ignorant and/or bitter. I guess misery loves company.
