John Mayer Tour w/ Dennen

John Mayer Summer Tour with Special Guests Colbie Caillat & Brett Dennen

John Mayer
The John Mayer 2008 summer tour, sponsored by BlackBerry® and featuring special guests Colbie Caillat and Brett Dennen was officially announced today. Tickets become available to members of Mayer's "Local 83" fan club on April 10 and available to the public beginning April 19. The summer tour will make stops at amphitheatres throughout the U.S. beginning July 2 in Milwaukee, WI and continuing through August 2 in Houston, TX (see full itinerary below). Both Caillat and Dennen, break out artists in their own rights, were among the performers aboard the Mayercraft Carrier in February '08.

Also this summer, a brand new CD/DVD & Blu-Ray package will be available featuring the performances recorded last December at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. The special concert includes three distinct sets: an acoustic performance, a rare set with John Mayer Trio (John Mayer, Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino), as well as a CONTINUUM set featuring Mayer's full-band. This will be the first new release since Continuum became available in September 2006 and incorporates each of the elements that the five-time Grammy-winner is known for - acoustic songwriter, electric guitar slinger, bluesman, and vocalist.

Colbie Caillat's dusty vocals and laid back rhythms have earned her critical acclaim and l.6 million sales since the release of her debut album COCO last July. The story of Caillat's MySpace rise is well known by now; the power of the site and her legion of fans (24 million!) netted her a record deal, huge sales, a Top 5 album debut and a hit single with the ubiquitous "Bubbly" and the follow up "Realize." She is currently headlining a 20-city college tour, and has frequently cited John Mayer as one of her biggest influences.

Brett Dennen channels folk, world, pop, and rock music into a breathtaking mix that falls easily into one category - timeless. Chris Douridas, host of KCRW's "New Ground," raves "rarely does music come along so unadorned, so pure in spirit, and so eloquently written." Dennen has seen a groundswell of support across the country often selling out markets the first time he plays. His debut album, So Much More was released in September 2007. Rolling Stone Magazine named Brett an "Artist to Watch" and his track "She's Mine" was #1 on USA Today's Playlist. The Los Angeles Times has declared: "Dennen is ecstatic and hopeful."

Suave - I find the the John Mayer crowd typically prefers veggie burrritos with carne asada over thr grilled cheesies. Brett Dennen fans typically like Ginger Bread and Ginger Ale. Colbie Caillat fans usually sorority girls that don't eat anything at all. I will be there selling all of these items as well as promoting the new Abercrombie Summer Collection.

chill guys, mayer is a great guitar player and we all know that, but inviting a pop queen colbie caillet to open for him really isnt helping his cause. He should stick with the trio and get a band like back door slam or the black keys or something to open for him if he ever wants to get some "street cred"

peaton - aggreed. anyone who knocks john mayer clearly just hasn't ventured into his catalog further than the crap they hear on the radio, because he is a sick guitar player. but a tour with colbie caillat?? he's just begging to be taken seriously as a musician

Great? He's an OK guitar player at best....Have you ever seen him try to hang with Clapton and Buddy Guy? It's laughable...He should go on a tour with DMB, Michael Franti, OAR, John Butler, and maybe even Celine Dion

C'mon guys! You aren't giving the man enough respect, you all forget he was on the cover or rolling stone along with Derek Trucks on this generations best guitarists! We're talking about a magazine and bashed zepplin, dead and Phish albums. I've given Mayer a chance and I do admit his trio is pretty good but the man is a sellout playing a generic sound that puts fans in the seats and makes him tons of money, if you wanna waste your money a talented guitarist who doesn't live up to his talents anymore go see Mayer, but i'm gonna spend all my money on heady festivals and heady ass concerts!

OK at best on guitar? I'm not a fan of the Mayer pop stuff either, but really, just ok? I saw with with Herbie and the Headhunters at Roo 05' and he was pretty unbelievable. Let's not forget about all the sub-par pop music Clapton has been writing for 35 years. I'd say John Mayer has a long way to go before he writes the amount of cheesy songs Clapton wrote. Don't get me wrong, I like Clapton, but a lot of his solo work in the past three and a half decades has been pure garb. I'm actually looking forward to seeing John Mayer for a few songs at Rothbury. Why not?

Grateful Dread

The blues stuff that he does with the John Mayer Trio is alright. I don't think he deserved to be on the cover of Rolling Stone but he's a decent guitarist. Still doesn't let him off the hook for "Your Body Is A Wonderland" though.

I don't like John Mayer all that much, but these articles are great because most of the posts are bashing him, which is always good for a laugh. I wonder if Jambase realizes that any non-jamband is goanna get the flame treatment and that they are probably doing more harm than good for the artist? Jambase Article: "Hey Everyone, John Mayer's on tour!" Comments: "Who cares he sucks, fucking sellout asshole!" "I hate Clapton too!" "I like John Mayer, fuck you" "You like John Mayer? You're an asshole!" What a riot. Yeah he's a pop star, but he's talented.

Brett Dennen is the real deal. He has an unbelivable ability to work phrases into his cadence so perfectly. Also Randy Schwartz is a fantastic drummer and both guys are as nice as you can imagine. California kids spreading the love!!
