Steely Dan Summer Tour

Steely Dan Announce: Think Fast, Steely Dan Summer Tour 2008

Steely Dan
The iconic Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, have announced that Steely Dan will once again hit the road performing several concerts as part of their THINK FAST, STEELY DAN SUMMER TOUR 2008, beginning June 8 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The first 14 concert dates have been announced and will see the Grammy award-winning duo swing through several East Coast cities before headlining a final concert in Canada at the prestigious Ottawa Jazz Festival on July 5. Highlights of the tour include concerts in Atlanta, Boston, and Toronto as well as a trio of shows at New York City's historic Beacon Theatre and two headlining performances at the world-renowned Montreal Jazz Festival. Additional concerts are expected to be announced shortly with tickets to select shows beginning to go on sale March 24 – visit and check local listings for updated information.

Becker and Fagen will draw from their deep, powerful, three-decade-plus catalog of signature hits and album favorites, all of uncompromising quality. The dapper duo will be supported, as always, by their tight, sophisticated band of the world-class R&B and jazz players. Set lists may also sample from Fagen's just released Nightfly Trilogy, and Becker's upcoming solo album, Circus Money, due June 10. Knowing the duo's subversive tastes, a few surprises are likely to pop up in the set as well. In addition, concertgoers will be treated to stellar opening acts, hand-selected by connoisseurs Becker and Fagen, including rising jazz star Sam Yahel and his Organ Trio and other acts to be announced.

Ah yes, nostoligia acts. Baby Boomers unite! Lowest prices at the beacon (all I could find available) are $54. I like SD music, but hell with prices like these. I advocate not buying tickets, that way Promoters will get the point and bring down ticket prices.

Talk trash all you want, I saw these guys last summer and they ripped nasty. They generally do a short tour every summer or two, so its not like Asia or Yes coming out of an extended retirement just to make a quick buck. If you have the chance see them.

gmoo...yeah, but your joke is very lame. Remember when Steely Dan won a grammy in 2001 for album of the year?? Also, they bring on the creme de la creme of studio musicians for their touring bands. There's absoloutely nothing over-the-hill about what they do and how they do it. DO yourself a favor and go see them this summer.

Wow this is serious hour. Yes is fair game but SD is offlimits? Gimme a break. I thought I was the ubersensitive lib. They won a grammy so they can't be joked about? If you read my first post I give SD props for christ's is all I can say.

Steely Dan is one of the greatest bands around. Their music is cool and the lyrics are almost unmatched. Fagen tells great stories, following a character from beginning to end. I can't wait to see them again. They are immaculate musicians and pick some of the best people to play with them. Maybe they are just a bit to sophisticated for some of you. Also, Yes is amazing live. I will be going to Yes shows on their 50th anniversary, if they are still around. Sorry, but Phish and the Biscuits are not the only bands worth seeing. This may shock some of you, but it's the facts!

Hey tourfan, prooters don't set ticke prices, the band has a fee andthe promoter has to set a price point in order to mke it work, or the band/agent asks for offers from promoters with the ticket prices first.

I have seen The Dan every tour fo the last 10 years and it is one ofthe bestlive shows ever!!!

Three Facts about THE Dan:

1. they rule

2. I'll be at the hard rock watching them rule

3. They named their band after a dildo (from Naked Lunch)

There were 13 people on stage when I saw them at the Gorge in 2003. Becker on guitar, Fagen on keys, another piano player, 2 drummers, 3 backup singers, 3 horns, bass, and another guitar player and a partridge in a pear tree. Great show, but do not camp with Steely Dan fans, they are ANIMALS! Never seen so many cokeheads in one place before.

the tickets are so damn expensive!!! thats why the last 5 years I have missed every show they played in atlanta. I want to see them, but I have a hard time with those 85-120 dollar tickets. I do think SD is one of the greatest bands to be born in america since their inception!!!!

Ahh yes baby boomers will be there, just remember not to dance in front of them, that makes 'em mad!!! hahaha!!

sit down and be quiet, thats the old people way to enjoy tunes :D hahaha...

These guys always put on a great show, and their ticket prices have always been high. As stated above, they bring a full circus of musicians on tour with them who are all top notch; many of them session musicians who only tour when SD hit the road. I saw them kick off the '96 tour and then again in '00, and they were both memorable shows. Steve Gadd usually hits the road with them, and watching that guy play the kit live is a treat.

Nothing beats those SD albums with Jeff Baxter and Walter Becker playing those incredible solos.

Steely Dan made some of the greatest records ever. Their songs have everything: great grooves, chord progressions, solos, vocal harmonies, and lyrics. Plus they are still making good albums, to lump them in with Asia and Boston is just ignorant.

greatest band ever, it's neat though how they envied the Dead. Dan had the best musicians but fagen and becker often lamented missing hte group family vibe that the dead had. the drummer from their last tour is playing alabama this sunday he's amazing keith carlock, check itout:

Nice, I get to combine two of my guilty pleasures, gambling in Atlantic City and Steely Dan! Bring on the Colombian marching powder. I've heard them be compared to Phish before for the simple reason that the music and the musicians are amazing, but some people just don't get it. A love/hate type of band.

Its better that not everyone likes them. More elbow room at the shows. Look at the effect of mega-stardom on GD.

Has anyone heard Walter Becker's new album? Becker just released a solo album called “Circus Money”. It's already released... really good. But I found out they're releasing it internationally with bonus material. The has the international version available.
