as any newsource, there are going to be slight variations and little disputed facts here and there, nothing to nitpick. good article, good festival, though it lost the charm of markham park, it is still miami's music festival, holding it down for south florida.

Lately, festivals have, in an effort to "Diversify" themselves, become way too watered doown with these crappy pop, indie, and just downright cheesy acts. We need some festies that are straight up jambands, with none of this garbage sprinkled in. It's bad enough that this site covers this indie and pop garbage, but why do we need them at our festivals?

wow, "biscolion" is a prime example of why i did not go see the biscuits there. they are not that great.

MartinHalo

the irony in all of this kills me. Saw the comments after Jake's New Year's Eve review and it was the same shit. Disco fans making commments like, "you people just don't know good music." What the hell is that supposed to mean, what is "good" ? What is that supposed to mean? That is the single most close minded statement you could make. There are "good" quailites in all kinds of music. To me it appears that you think you are all god knowing. Like you have some inside knowlege about the correct music to be into in order to be saved by god's wrath when we die.

You are like a religious fanatic but for music, are you going to show up at my doorstep on Sat morning with a flyer that says, "if you are not into the biscuts YOU ARE GOING TO HELL!!!!" ??

The fact that you called me a hater, by calling you out for being an asshole, just solidifies the fact that, yes indeed you are an asshole. And trust me, "I know some 'good' assholes!"

Im tired of it all, get a grip dude.

OK, the article might not have been the best written, but give the guy a break. IT has been two days from the festival. Also, the best set of the weekend was Claypool by far. That man brings it every time he gets on stage. Now to the tDB, I am no fan, so I do not really understand what is the love for them, but the way they started their show was AWFUL. Beatles cover and Matisyahu, that was so wack and they really turned me off for the whole show. There were some great moments when they played, like when Murph came out, and other parts were good, but meh. I was disappointed there was nor write up on Railroad Earth's set. They were killin it on Saturday morning. Man those guys are so good and i hope they keep it going.

There is nothing wrong with being passionate....the biscuits are such talented musicians and they deserve more respect after such a great performance...that's all

I don't think an open mind is necessary. I don't care for the Biscuits, but I don't attack them... I think the personal and all encompassing attacks just need to stop. If you feel a band sucks, that is okay, but to attack fans and then get personal is not to take the higher road. I for one don't understand the need to jump over to a board that you know you have nothing to offer just to start a negative thread.

I gotta give Kayceman props for taking the time to write this article. It honestly sounds like you have a biased opinion toward the more "indie scene" bands, and that is ok. Hey everyone deserves their own opinion. Some people on here need to wake up and realize that everyone isn't going to like all the bands you do. If they did, their shows would be crowded as shit, a lot more money, and a much less pleasant experience. So what if he dropped a little crack on Bisco. As a huge fan of tDB myself, I sat and watched the show on sunday night. Sgt. Pepper's was sloppy, and Matisyahu came out and stunk things up, After they started to get into the groove of Spacebird, they show started to get a lot better. Not to mention that Barber was playing sitting, I'm thinking he might have been a little fucked up. Anyway, people shouldn't hate on eachother's opinion, it's a constitutional right.

That was a pretty lackluster review...maybe they will edit/add more details to it after they get their video footage together. I haven't been to Langerado since '06 and I was wondering for those who went: What did you think being in the Everglades? I guess it was better because of the late-night sets being on-site, more of a bigger festie atmosphere...but I really liked the intimacy of the other park...what did you guys think? Was it a move in the right direction for langerado or not?

I skipped Langerado this year mainly because of the fact that they moved it so far away from the city, making it a logistical nightmare for me (and I live in Tampa). Traffic in and out, ability to reload on supplies, and friends flying all were too tough to do.

Now I am reminded of what else I missed - the hordes of Philly/NJ/Maryland peeps that dominate Langerado, along with their nitrous tanks, bunk pharmies, gnashing their teeth at 5 am, telling you that Bisco is the greatest band in the world, and then wanting to brawl if you disagree.

fans and nonfans of The Disco Biscuits need to relax on this board, but mostly fans of the Bisco who seem to get offended when someone voices an opinion. diversity is what makes life great, and it sure would be a boring world if everyone liked exactly the same bands as everyone else, no?

i think the videos are going to be a bit more insightful than this review...

It appears this review was written on a very tired Monday! It downplays the excitement and entertainment that ensued and persevered. Despite the rain Thursday the crowd energy was ideal and peaceful. I talked to Ethan on Friday... he too was happy with the move into Big Cypress. Overall it contributes to the "festival" experience.... the expansion of music including late nights and camping on-site. Small complaint-$10 showers. Langerado has the potential to expand in their new home. Congrats Ethan and Mark!! BTW- There was a large group of 15 of us from the Tampa, St Pete, Sarasota area... under the bamboo In-tent-city.

For me, its honestly getting to the point where I don't think I'll ever even give Bisco a chance, and its all because of the demeanor of their fans. Seriously, my distaste for the band has much less to do with the fact that their music is so frantic.

And its sad, because its really not fair to the band.

Bisco fans are defensive because they know that there band cannot sing at all, plays sloppy and has long boring noodling songs that have boring drawn out jams and intros, and rely on gimmicks like inverting songs and unfinished songs to get them through a boring ass show. Sorry, but you have to be high to like this band and you all that love them know this

Watched the Mule set thru the Bisco show Sunday on iclips.net. The Mule show was GREAT. The Bisco set was rockin', despite what the article implies.

Overall a rather poor review; however, I remember the 10klf and maybe it was Bonnaroo, reviews last summer, were also rather crappy too. I'm starting to notice a pattern.

Maybe since the festivals are so big...have a group of people who can go out and see all the different shows and cover everything, then compile the story so the readers can actually read about shows they were at. If you can't hire people, I'm sure fans would be more than willing to give their imput and help out.

I'd rather see a well constructed review rather than a half-ass one that was pushed out too early mere hours after the festival concluded.

Sorry JamBase.

why does it always seem like bisco fans are so unintelligent and intolerant of anyone else opinions if they differ from their own? i didnt attend this festival but given the other far more creative and talented bands that were there i would have to agree that bisco would be quite a let down. granted, that is my opinion, but having seen them numerous times it is not without merit.

the night wore down, at least musically? I watched that Biscuit set on iClips and was blown away, I haven't heard the Biscuits play like that ever... Jambase has got to start getting more than one reporter out to festivals

I love how the comments for a review of a festival with 50+ bands turn into comments strictly about the Disco Biscuits. Also, a review is just an opinion. The man can say whatever he wants.

Caught the Phil set on iClips. These guys keep getting better and better.

I was there thursday thru sunday and I can tell you first hand the music was hot all weekend, the only downside was camping with cow dung and fire ants. Govt Mule rocked as did the beasties, keller, msmw, phil, martin sexton, sts9, dso, p groove, even the school of rock all stars were pretty impressive, I walked up on them playing a great whippin post. great weekend all around.

Greg11, peep Skerik's feet next time you see him. Or you could just pick up a copy of Les Claypool's Purple Onion, or Garage a Trois and here Skerik's effects. And it's xylophone, not xylephone. And Dillon plays both. The main difference? A xylophone is tuned an octave higher and made typically from Keylon or rosewood, while a Marimba is made exclusively from wood WITH wooden resonators.
