Portishead Set To Release Third April 14

British trip-hop superstars Portishead are set to release their third album, appropriately titled Third, on April 14 internationally through Island (U.S. details not yet announced). The 11-track offering will be the first studio release since the band's 1997 self-titled record.

Following a European tour that begins on Mach 26 in Portugal, the band will co-headliner Coachella in April, which will be the trio's first show in America in almost a decade.

Portishead is Beth Gibbons, Adrian Utley and Geoff Barrow. The band went on hiatus after releasing Portishead to pursue other projects. The group re-emerged in 2005 for a tsunami benefit concert in England, and also curated the U.K.'s All Tomorrow's Parties festival in December.

cool, the ambient sounds of this band should come back after all these years!!! holy crap its been over a decade??? I'm gettin old :(

wow. i can remember seeing these guys at the warfield......how long ago? don't trip miles, i'm getiing old too.

These guys are amazing. I hope these guys play a few festivals this summer. Beth Gibbons voice is magical.

I really loved this band...i wrote them off for dead many years ago!!!! Beth has helped me get many women very naked over the years. Im very glad to hear that they are coming back1

I Ituned their first effort weeks ago and it is still fresh and current. LIke one commentor said, I wrote them off as dead but I still craved hearing their first effort. SUre it brought back memories but the music itself is present. I will be downloading this effort and this may lead me to Cochella along with several other great bands on the bill

Stoked for the return of Portishead!!! Oh, and to iamrok: the article states that Third "will be the first studio release since the band's 1997 self-titled record." The word SINCE is important if you take the time to read... dummy
