JuJu Fest Coming To New Orleans During Jazz Fest

The inaugural JuJu Fest will celebrate West African music in the U.S. during the 2015 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. JuJu Fest will feature Pirate’s Choice, Toubab Krewe, Benyoro, Raja Kassis’ humanBEING and many special guests from both the U.S. and West Africa including Yacouba Sissoko, Khris Royal, Morcoumba Gueye, Magatte Fall, Eric “Benny” Bloom, Morgan Price and Weedie Braimah.

Toubab Krewe’s Luke Quaranta has curated the lineup for JuJu Fest which will take place at venues around New Orleans between April 24 and May 6. Quaranta’s Pirate’s Choice all-star supergroup will perform at a number of JuJu Fest shows and Toubab Krewe itself will also headline two nights including a “Toubab Krewe Orchestra” concert featuring an extended version of the band. Nth Power percussionist Weedie Braimah’s birthday bash will be held at Maison on April 29 as part of JuJu Fest.
