Aquarium Rescue Unit To Reunite For Summer Concerts

The first ARU performance announced will take place at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York August 15. (UPDATE: See the full list of shows below) Hampton, Herring, Sipe and Burbridge were all longtime members of Aquarium Rescue Unit, a band that influenced many of the jam acts that followed in their footsteps. ARU helped start the H.O.R.D.E. festival in 1992 along with Phish, Widespread Panic, Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler and Bela Fleck & The Flecktones.
“Being a part of Bruce’s musical world is a liberating experience in that he entices the players to discover their true and full expression,” said Jeff Sipe in a statement. “Musicians and friends who have spent time in Camp Hampton have an understanding of where honest music comes from…”
“We basically lived on the road,” added Jimmy Herring about his ARU experience, “and we got the chance to play every day in a situation where we could try new things, without fear of getting fired for playing ‘wrong’ notes. These ‘wrong’ notes eventually became our thing.
“We have said for years that there are two kinds of musicians,” Herring continued. “Those that have played with Bruce, and those who haven’t.”
UPDATE: Relix Magazine, which is helping to present the shows, have announced the full list of dates. Tickets for all shows go on sale this Friday, March 27 at 11 a.m. ET.
