DOLLY EMBARKS ON
BACKWOODS BARBIE WORLD TOUR

New Album
The platinum dynamo pushes forward in her fifth decade as a recording artist with the February 5th release of her new album, Backwoods Barbie, on her own Dolly Records. This marks Parton‘s first foray into mainstream country in almost 17 years after an extensive exploration of bluegrass and roots music. She wrote nine of the songs for the album and produced the CD with bandleader-guitarist Kent Wells.

Strange bedfellows alert: The video for the first single off Barbie features Strangers With Candy star Amy Sedaris. Check out “Better Get To Livin'” here. However, this pairing is outdone by Dolly’s recent interview with Scissor Sisters‘s lead singer and longtime Dolly fan Jake Shears for an upcoming BBC special titled Jake’s Adventures In Dollywood. Get a taste of their interactions here and here.

Parton plans to tour extensively behind Backwoods Barbie including three special club shows: February 4 at The Roxy in Los Angeles, February 11 at Park West in Chicago and February 13 at Highline Ballroom in New York City. These shorter shows will include songs from the new album as well selections from her vast catalog. Tickets will only be available through www.dollypartonmusic.net and supporting radio stations [KKGO in Los Angeles and US99.5 in Chicago].
