Later this month Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks will play what’s expected to be their last shows as members of The Allman Brothers Band at the Beacon Theatre in NYC, but there’s no doubt the two will find time to share the stage again in their various projects. As an example, Trucks and other members of the Tedeschi Trucks Band sat in with Gov’t Mule last night at the Florida Theatre in Jacksonville.

The collaborations took place at the end of Mule’s first set. First, Tedeschi Trucks Band keyboardist Kofi Burbridge emerged to lend a hand on “Forsaken Savior.” Then, Burbridge was joined by his band mates Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Tim Lefebvre and Tyler Greenwell for a cover of “The Sky Is Crying.” Gov’t Mule drummer Matt Abts and bassist Jorgen Carlsson sat out the blues standard. The first set finale was a cover of The Allman Brothers Band’s “Dreams” featuring Mule assisted by Burbridge and Trucks.

Last night’s second set was all Mule as the band focused on originals along with a cover of Radiohead’s “Creep.” Warren Haynes & Co. celebrated John Lennon’s birthday by treating fans to an encore of The Beatles’ “I’m So Tired” and Lennon’s solo gem “Working Class Hero.”
