BoH/Cass: Halfway to Forecastle

Band Of Horses, Cass McCombs To Play "Halfway To Forecastle Festival" Party

Band of Horses
Although slightly more than six months away, the 7th annual Forecastle Festival will be satiating audiences anticipation with Halfway To Forecastle taking place Saturday, January 26 at Headliner's in Louisville KY. All ticket proceeds will benefit Louisville BMX legend and FBM-owner Jimmy Levan, currently recovering from serious injuries sustained after a recent skate boarding accident in New Jersey.

The lineup will include Band of Horses, Cass McCombs, Catfish Haven, How I Became The Bomb, Early Day Miners, Ferdinand Fox, Coltrane Motion, Jesse Jamz, and many more. Halfway To Forecastle has partnered with sponsors such as Havana Cola and Red Bull North America, who will provide an outdoor sports area, featuring skate ramps and regional athletes who have shared a ramp or two with Jimmy.

Originally announced in September, Forecastle founder and manager JK McKnight embraced the opportunity to turn the mini-festival into a benefit after hearing word of Levan's accident. Family members and supporters are trying to raise $70,000 to assist with rehabilitation fees not covered by Levan's insurance. McKnight hopes Halfway To Forecastle can raise up to $15,000 through ticket sales, merchandise, and silent auction activities.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, December 15 at Ticketmaster. 91.9 WFPK and the Band of Horses Fan Club are offering exclusive pre-sale tickets as early as next week.

THE FORECASTLE FESTIVAL is where the Midwest connects. Founded in Louisville, KY, the annual gathering is equal parts Music, Art, and Activism. A symposium for musicians, artists, and environmentalists, Forecastle connects the progressive Midwest. The 2008 fest is expected to draw over 10,000 patrons to the Louisville Waterfront - part of a scenic, $60 million dollar riverfront investment which draws 1.5 million visitors a year. With national headliners and expanded lineups, the festival will provide an unforgettable experience for all Forecastle travelers, converging in Louisville from the Midwest and beyond.

Why does this website continuously try to force these guys down our throats? I understand that the powers that be think these guys are the second coming but enough already. I cant wait for the BofH apologists (who i strongly believe are just guys on this site's payroll) to try to defend the obscene ammount of coverage these idiots get. Hey jambase, i mean indiebase, why dont you cover a real up and coming band like grand ole party or an established act who gets ignored like Assembly of Dust?

I agree with you LiberalsFor... Ben Bridwell is from my hometown here in SC, so I'm hearing about them nonstop here already. Then, every time they have the slightest news, all the online sites pick it up.

Enough already!

As an ex-Washingtonian and long time fan of Carissa's weird, I can't help but like BOH. i'll be damned before i ever applogize for my taste in music. all you peeps need to get a life other than dogging people's music. why don't you try spending the time you waste bitching on this site writing an album of your own? oh wait...that requires talent.

I've heard 'em, and they ain't that great! Even if I hadn't heard 'em, I've heard so much about 'em that I'd be bored to death by the time I could hear 'em. Too much hype turns me off!
