Virginia native and rock legend Bruce Hornsby shows off the many sides of his music on Bruce Hornsby -Solo Concerts, which comes out on August 25 via Vanguard Records. The new 2-CD compilation contains 21 tracks recorded at solo concerts performed by Hornsby in the U.S. between 2012 and 2013.

Included on the new release are such beloved Hornsby classics as “Mandolin Rain” and “The Valley Road” as well as Bruce’s takes on the kind of old-timey music he performed at the start of his career. The keyboardist also offers his interpretation of modern classic music with the dissonance and expressive chromatics of 20th century 12-tone experimental composers like Austrians Arnold Schoenberg and Anton Webern, as well as American modernists like Elliot Carter, the Hungarian György Ligeti or the French mystic Olivier Messiaen.

You don’t have to wait until the 25th to listen to Bruce Hornsby -Solo Concerts. Take a listen to a stream of the entire 2-CD compilation:
