Umphrey’s McGee :: 7.25.14 :: Ravinia :: Highland Park, IL

Summer concerts at Ravinia are a Chicagoland tradition since the turn of the last century. Ravinia, which dates back to 1904, is the oldest music festival site in the nation. Chicago’s own Umphrey’s McGee finally made their Ravinia debut last night, where they showed off the many sides of their live performances including a segment which featured guitarists Jake Cinninger and Brendan Bayliss on acoustics, versions of “Educated Guess,” “Hajimemashite” and “Mantis” played with a string quartet (Nathan Swanson on violin, Maria Storm on violin, Rebecca Wilcox on viola, and Dan Clinger on cello) and covers of Toto’s “Africa” and “Walking On The Moon” by The Police.

Set One: Divisions, Similar Skin > Walletsworth, 2nd Self, Ringo, In The Kitchen[1] > Great American[1] > Susanah[1] > Great American[1], Africa

Set Two: Cut the Cable, Wappy Sprayberry > JaJunk > Walking On The Moon > JaJunk, August, Glory > In The Kitchen, Educated Guess[2], Hajimemashite[2] Encore: Bad Friday, Preamble > Mantis[2]
