Exclusive | Nth Power Perform Catfish Live At AURA Studios

This weekend one of our favorite up-and-coming acts, The Nth Power, returns to the Northeast for performances at the Iron Horse in Northampton, MA on Friday, Manifestivus in Cabot, VT on Saturday. The quintet then heads to Portland, ME for a show at Port City Music Hall on Monday. If you're unfamiliar, The Nth Power features the talented and versatile lineup of Nick Cassarino on guitar, Nikki Glaspie on drums, Nigel Hall on keys, Weedie Braimah on percussion and Nate Edgar on bass. The group mixes elements of funk, soul and rock into a signature sound all their own.

We asked Cassarino about what the future holds for The Nth Power and the guitarist tells us, "We've been writing a ton, recording a ton and fine tuning that marriage between the lyrics, the melody and the music. I'm so ready to hit the road with this band and share our new songs with the people. It's finally happening."

As a taste of what you can expect at a The Nth Power show, we're excited to share the group's take on The Four Tops' "Catfish" that they laid down earlier this year during their Live From AURA Studios session. "Catfish came on the radio last tour while we were driving to watch the Super Bowl at Joey Porter's house in Denver, and everyone freaked out. There's a lyric about New Orleans that spoke to all of us -- that's the birthplace of the band and we've all gotten down with some catfish at a fish fry in New Orleans. So it just clicked, and Nigel was like we have to play that song," Cassarino explains about the cover choice.
