Exclusive Premiere | Jerry Garcia Band Covers The Band

The latest installment of the GarciaLive series of Jerry Garcia live archival releases features the Jerry Garcia Band's March 22, 1978 performance at Veteran's Hall in Sebastopol, CA. GarciaLive Vol. 4, which is now available for pre-order, will hit stores on July 15. The JGB lineup for this show saw Garcia joined by John Kahn, Buzz Buchanan, Maria Muldaur and Keith & Donna Godchaux as well as special guest Ozzie Ahlers.

Jerry and his band roll through two soul-laden sets that are heavy on covers including "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)," "Simple Twist Of Fate," "I Second That Emotion," "Mystery Train" and "The Harder They Come." Other highlights include "Mission In The Rain," a take on "Cats Under The Stars" played around the time the album of the same name was released and a breathtaking version of The Band's "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down." Garcia puts so much emotion in each line he sings and each note he plays during the stirring, 10-minute "Dixie Down" from Sebastopol, which we're pleased to premiere today. Take a listen:

GarciaLive Vol. 4 is available as a 2-CD set or Digital Downloads in 256kbps MP3, 44.1khz/16bit FLAC or 88.2khz/24bit FLAC format.
