Update: Sadly, Direct Current has pulled the track. “Apologies, folks, but it appears that there’s been a bit o’ miscommunication regarding the new Ryan Adams single ‘Gimme Something Good.’ Long story short we’ve now been asked by Adams’ label Blue Note to take down the stream and have done so. Digital release is scheduled for July 1 so perhaps we can have it back up next week. Stay tuned,” reads a note on the site.

As we reported, singer-songwriter Ryan Adams will release a new single, titled “Gimme Something Good,” on July 1. We don’t have to wait until Tuesday to hear the track as Direct Current has shared a stream of the new single.

Adams’ first new release since 2012 is a guitar riff-propelled ditty that sounds like a mix of Jackson Browne & Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ best material. We look forward to hearing the B Side of the new single, “Aching For More,” and the vinyl-exclusive “I Just Might. The 7” is on sale now.

“Gimme Something Good” is said to be off of Adams’ next record, his 14th studio album. No official release date and title is available yet for the LP other than Amazon’s mention of “due later this year” and Direct Current mentioning a September 9th release date. Ryan produced the single along with Mike Viola according to a a tweet he sent out.

Ryan Adams returns to the road late next month.
