DSO & The Weight To Re-Create 1973 Dead & Band Sets

Jerry Garcia celebrated his 31st birthday on August 1, 1973 by performing with the Grateful Dead at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, NJ as part of a stacked double-bill featuring The Band. On Friday, August 1 of this year, 41 years after that landmark performance, Grateful Dead tribute act Dark Star Orchestra and The Band tribute act, The Weight will recreate the entire Jersey City show for “A Very Jerry Birthday Jam” at Heritage Amphitheater at Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield, VA.

DSO's August 1st performance will mark only the fourth time in the band's 16 year history that they have revealed what show they will play before taking the stage. In addition, both bands - as well as Baltimore's The Bridge - will also play Heritage Amphitheater the next day, August 2. Single-day tickets, as well as two-day passes, are on sale now via the venue's website.
