On Friday night moe. kicked off a two-night stand at the Saranac Brewery in Utica, NY; where once again they were joined by the Conehead Buddha Horns for a portion of the show. Shannon Lynch (saxophone), Terry Lynch (trumpet) and Shaun Bazylewicz (trombone) emerged in the first set for “Spaz Medicine” and “Happy Hour Hero” (complete with its reference to Saranac). The horn section returned for “Blond Hair and Blue Eyes” in the second set as well as a two-song encore of “Plane Crash” and a debut cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.” In addition, Shannon Lynch helped out on sax and vocals for “New York City” in the second set.

Guitarist Al Schnier handled vocals on the horn-driven Springsteen cover. While moe. hadn’t performed “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” in the past, they had covered The Boss’s “Born To Run” a few times in 2006. Take a listen to audio of “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” recorded by Marcus:
