Full Show Friday | The Police Live At Gateshead 1982

On July 31, 1982 The Police headlined the Rock on the Tyne music festival at Gateshead International Stadium in the U.K. during the trio's Ghost In The Machine World Tour. Sting, Andy and Stewart ran through a high-energy 18-song set that featured a mix of material from all four studio albums they had released at that point.

The Police's appearance in Gateshead was fairly close to a hometown show for Sting, who noted at one point "I was born over there, just across the river." One of the more interesting elements of this show was that The Police were augmented by a horn section. The addition of the horns works on some songs, while on others they are just distracting. Regardless, The Police's set from Gateshead is one of few to circulate in pro-shot quality and is well worth watching. Take a look:

Set: Message In A Bottle; Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic; Walking On The Moon; Spirits In The Material World; Hungry For You; WTWIRD; Bed's Too Big Without You; De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da; Demolition Man; Shadows In The Rain; Driven To Tears; Bring On The Night; One World (Not Three); Invisible Sun; Roxanne; Don't Stand So Close To Me; Can't Stand Losing You/Sally Be My Girl; So Lonely
