Brace/Choir : Turning On Your Double

Hailing from Berlin and playing a dreamy, shoegaze pop, Brace/Choir are a good fit for fans of Kurt Vile or Pink Floyd or The Sea & Cake. There is little about their debut LP, Turning On Your Double, that feels rushed in any way. Songs ebb and flow, they meander, they grow, occasionally they reach a triumphant climax, but just as often the pieces feel content to just be. Everyone in the quartet takes vocals and the multi-instrumentalists rotate through different roles, giving the whole thing a communal collective vibe. This is music for slipping into a mood (you choose which one).

Axxa/Abraxas : Axxa/Abraxas

While you’re enjoying your own headspace, why not pop on the self-titled debut from Axxa/Abraxas, the sunny-day, psych-pop of Ben Asbury. With more x’s than a Scrabble set, Asbury has cross-pollinated all your favorite psychedelic markers: fuzzed-out guitars, gauzy stoner falsetto, vintage organ and delicious hooks. The result is a truly lovable album. Produced with help from Jarvis Taveniere of Woods, this will draw plenty of comparisons to Woods, and with good reason.
