Neil Young Dusts Off Gems At First Los Angeles Show

By Scott Bernstein Mar 30, 2014 12:50 pm PDT

Rocker Neil Young began a four-show solo acoustic run at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles with a two-and-a-half four performance (including 30-minute intermission) that included a pair of long-lost originals. Young dusted off “Thrasher” for the first time since October 24, 1978 and “Philadelphia” made its return after being on the shelf since June 2, 1999.

Neil’s set mixed material from throughout his solo career with tunes from his days in Buffalo Springfield, “Ohio” from his time with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, The Stills-Young Band gem “Long May You Run” and a pair of covers -“Changes” by Phil Ochs and “If You Could Read My Mind” by Gordon Lightfoot. The run continues tonight.
