A bevy of JamBase favorites and more will honor the legendary Dr. John on May 3 at
the Saenger Theatre for “The Musical Mojo of Dr. John: A Celebration of Mac & His Music,”
a special concert event taping honoring this musical icon in his hometown of New Orleans.
Gregg Allman, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Bill Kreutzmann, Chuck Leavell, George Porter
Jr. and Widespread Panic are just a few of the acts aboard to perform Dr. John's songs at the tribute.

In addition to the full list of confirmed acts below, more performers are expected to be
announced soon and the event is said to feature "special guests." Famed producer and
musician Don Was will lead the house band as he did for January's Gregg Allman
Tribute and the 2012 Love For Levon event. “Dr. John transcends genres with a truly
distinctive sound that embodies the rich musical heritage of New Orleans and has
tremendously influenced the course of music history,” commented Don Was in a statement. The good Dr. himself, making his only appearance in New Orleans during this year's Jazz Fest, will take the stage for a few performances during the course of the evening.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public starting 10 a.m. CT on Monday, March 10 via
Ticketmaster and the Saenger Theatre box office. A percentage of proceeds will benefit the
New Orleans Musicians Clinic. The event will be "filmed and recorded for multi-platform distribution."
Here's the current lineup for the event:

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Bill Kreutzmann, Chuck Leavell, Shannon McNally, Zigaboo
