Does anyone share in this sentiment? Charlie Hunter is so much better live than in studio....

Smittea. Totally agree, way better live. Last time i saw him was a festival in Davenport, IA. While another band was playing on another stage, i was listening to their soundcheck and they were just kind jamming. I could have listened to just mess around all day. Glorious.

erikroland - I can't explain it either. I used to have 3 or 4 of his CDs. I couldn't listen to them after one playing. I ended up selling all of them. However, I could go to any incarnation of groups he is performing with and enjoy it immensely. I especially enjoy his ability to play the tamborine - that is a sight (and sound) to behold.

I admire the hell out of CH. He can play, and he is one of a kind in today's scene. However, he bores the hell out of me. Doesn't that suck????

I would rather be frothing at the mouth to see his show, but meh... damn :(

milesgone,... live or studio albums? I will TOTALLY agree with you on the album side with the exception of the Stanton/Skerik (Garage A Trois) stuff. Quite a few albums that keep popping up in the left border I have owned. I will never listen to any of them again. Every show I've seen with Charlie has been far more entertaining.

studio stuff I guess. although this last one mystico, he sounded like he was having more fun. It was a better of the studio albums, album.

In some way I think he and schofield have some commonalities, I prefer schofields compostions more I think.

The two John Scofield / MMW efforts are very decent albums. I enjoy the earlier one more (A Go Go). Regardless I also agree with you about Scofield in general. He seems to be able to bring off a studio album where Hunter's seemed more stiffled.
