Cover Alert | Umphrey's McGee Tackles The Clash

Last night Umphrey's McGee kicked off a four-show visit to Denver that concludes their touring activity for 2013. The run starts with a pair of shows at The Fillmore Auditorium, before the band heads to the intimate 1-UP Colfax for a "Bill GrahUM" show on the 30th. UM returns to The Fillmore for New Year's Eve. On Saturday night Umphrey's delivered two career-spanning sets heavy on jammy originals.

A big surprise came in the middle of the second set, when UM debuted a cover of The Clash's 1982 hit "Rock The Casbah." "Rock The Casbah" joins "London Calling" as the only Clash songs the sextet has tackled. Guitarist Jake Cinninger handled lead vocals on the cover and later joined drummer Kris Myers and percussionist Andy Farag for a three-pronged drum jam that developed out of "Rock The Casbah."

Watch Adam Pierce's fan- shot video of "Rock The Casbah" and "Drums":

Set 2: The Triple Wide > 2nd Self, The Bottom Half[2], Rock the Casbah[3], Conduit, Mullet (Over) > Much Obliged
