Last night Wilco front man Jeff Tweedy kicked off a 12-show solo acoustic tour at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City, MO. Tweedy delivered plenty of Wilco songs along with a pair of tunes from his time in Uncle Tupelo as well as a handful of selections from the Loose Fur project.

You can always count on Tweedy for interesting banter and according to a review from the Kansas City Star last night was no exception. The Illinois native “addressed someone up front who was causing some kind of commotion” after the third song of the evening leading to “humorous verbal jousting” that even got into a brief discussion of the late Jay Bennett. “He was my friend. Was he your friend? … He would have hated you,” Tweedy told the fan according to the KC Star.

Jeff dusted off the unreleased Wilco track “One True Vine” in the middle of the set, which Mavis Staples recorded as the title tune for her most recent Tweedy-produced studio album. For his final song of the evening, the singer delivered “Acuff-Rose” without the aid of amplification following a bit of a call-and-response segment during Wilco classic “A Shot In The Arm.”
