This December Grace Potter & The Nocturnals drummer Matt Burr will lead a project
he's put together called Dark Side Of The Mountain to pay tribute to the music of Pink Floyd
at four performances in Vermont.
Burr and fellow Vermonter Bob Wagner will lead an ensemble of local Vermont musicians
including Daniel Munzing and Josh Weinstein, along with special guests, to cover Floyd on
three consecutive Wednesdays at Nectar's in Burlington, followed by a grand finale on
December 29 at Burlington's Club Metronome. JamBase favorite Marco Benevento will perform
with the band on the 29th, the only ticketed event of the run, as the Nectar's shows are
According to a statement, "The show will pay tribute to a wide array of songs from the
Pink Floyd catalog, including Obscured By Clouds and songs from the Syd Barrett
era. A projection based light show will also accompany the musical performance." Burr
added, "I’ll never forget the first time I heard Animals and Dark Side of the
Moon as a kid. It was a space ship for my brain, with pristine arrangements, tones,
harmonies, solos, and chords. Every note was golden, and no one ever over-played. All of
their albums continue to blow my mind, especially their masterful work in the 70’s. The
brilliant meat and potatoes drumming of Nick Mason has played a huge role in my
development as a drummer."
Dark Side Of The Mountain dates:
December 4, 11 and 18 @ Nectar's - Burlington, VT
