No Woman, No Drive | Comedian Rebukes Saudi Female Driving Ban

As hard as it is to believe, women in Saudi Arabia aren’t issued driving licenses. That’s right, if you were born a woman in the ultra-conservative country, you won’t be allowed to drive. Clerics in the country not only claim that letting females drive may hurt their ovaries, but that a change to the policy could unravel the very fabric of Saudi society. Today, a number of Saudi women have gotten behind the wheel to protest the unjust policy and in support a Saudi comedian named Hisham Fageeh has used Bob Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry” to create a video that has just gone viral.

Fageeh mocks the “it’ll hurt your ovaries” criticisms of the Kingdom and makes many references to the policy as he lays down an a capella take on the Marley classic which he’s dubbed “No Woman, No Drive.” Take a look:
