Wilco Covers Stones And Jams With Fiddler In Austin

While Wilco has played plenty of sets since April, they have all been of the festival variety, even appearing at their own Solid Sound event back in June. Last night Jeff Tweedy and Co. broke a streak of nearly six months without a full show of their own, when they delivered a marathon 33-song performance at Stubb's in Austin, TX.

The show started with a bunch of rarities, most notably "Someone Else's Songs" - which was last performed on August 7, 2010 according to Setlist.fm. Other rarities included "Blood of the Lamb" (3rd performance since 2008), "Hesitating Beauty" and a cover of Doug Sahm's "Give Back The Key To My Heart." Seven songs into the set, Wilco dusted off their version of "Dead Flowers" by The Rolling Stones for just the fourth time since 1995.

Earlier this summer Wilco jammed with Ryan Bingham fiddler Richard Bowden during the AmericanaramA tour. Bowden sat in with Wilco last night for the first nine songs of the band's main set. The middle of the Chicago-based band's set contained a number of tunes from Whole Love and plenty of the most beloved Wilco songs such as "Passenger Side," "Handshake Drugs," "Impossible Germany," "Poor Places" and "Heavy Metal Drummer." A seven-song first encore featured "I Got You (At The End Of The Century)" which the local Barton Hills Choir performed at last weekend's first weekend of the Austin City Limits Music Festival. It will be interesting to see if the choir sits in with Wilco later today during their ACL Fest performance. Watch the Barton Hills Choir's take on "I Got You":

Here's the setlist from last night, though note Richard Bowden played on the first nine songs:

Watch Wilco's set from the Austin City Limits fest tonight at 6 p.m. CT.
