1983 saw the return of Robbie Robertson-less The Band nearly seven years after The Last Waltz. The Grateful Dead called upon their musical buddies to open for them at the San Francisco Civic Auditorium on New Year’s Eve and brought out bassist Rick Danko (and Maria Muldaur) for a short-but-sweet third set. Just this week 90 minutes worth of pro-shot footage from New Year’s ’83 -’84 has surfaced on YouTube thanks to VoodooNola2.
