Last night Ocean Elders, a group dedicated to conservation and protection of the ocean and its wildlife, held its first annual summit at City Winery in New York. Former President Bill Clinton and moguls Ted Turner and Richard Branson were among those on hand to draw attention to the worthy cause. Ocean Elders counts Neil Young among its supporters and Young not only turned up at City Winery, but he performed a pair of songs.

According to Neil Young fan site Bad News Beat, Young covered Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ In The Wind” and Phil Ochs’ “Changes” at last night’s summit. Neil had covered both songs as part of his Farm Aid set on Saturday night in Saratoga Springs, NY. Last night’s summit also featured a performance by fellow Ocean Elders supporter Jackson Browne.
We’ll keep our eyes out for any video from Neil’s surprise appearance at City Winery.
