Just after one month after starting their coast-to-coast tour, jazz-rock icons Steely Dan played
their first "theme shows" of 2013 this weekend in Los Angeles. On Saturday night, the band
treated fans to a performance of 1977's Aja LP in its entirety, while last night's
show was the tour's first "Greatest Hits Night."
Once front men Donald Fagen and Walter Becker emerged on stage at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre L.A. Live for Saturday night's
the pair led the talented ensemble through a full performance of Aja. Once they
made it through the album's seven songs, they delivered a mix of The Dan's best-known
songs, rarities and a few tunes from more recent LPs.
Sunday night's setlist didn't differ too much the tour's typical song sequence. If you
compare last night's list to Friday night's "theme-less" show in Las Vegas, you'll notice
"Deacon Blues" and "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" were the only songs performed at
"Greatest Hits Night" that went unplayed in Vegas.
Steely Dan have a few days off before a Wednesday night show in Austin, TX.
